This is a list of new features in Enswitch 4.4. It is not exhaustive; some enhancements are too minor to list. A full list of features can be found on enswitch.com.

Highlights of 4.4

  • Two-factor authentication for logins to the web interface.
  • Telephone lines can use PJSIP, and Asterisk 20 and 22 are supported.
  • Concurrent call reporting for resellers and customers.
  • Enhanced queue events for external reporting systems.

Telephony

  • Telephone lines can use PJSIP.
  • Time groups can be toggled with a single feature code, and busy lamps show whether the time group is active.
  • Queue destinations can require call confirmation, and can be added to several priorities at once.
  • The call back in advance time can be set per queue.
  • Queue events more closely mirror those of Asterisk, and include outbound calls, pauses, and music on hold, to better support external reporting systems such as QueueMetrics.
  • Calls can be sent to a specific greeting of a mailbox.
  • Voicemail messages can be copied to a mailbox in a sibling customer.
  • The callerid on external calls can be chosen to match the called number's area.
  • Outbound groups can require the caller to enter a PIN, for example to control access to high cost destinations.
  • Feature prefixes can send calls via a specific peer.
  • Remote access accounts can use a specific rate plan for outbound calls.
  • Customers can allow internal calls to show callerid even when the telephone line withholds it.
  • The remote party is updated when a ringing, held, or parked call is picked up.
  • Recording groups can pause recording while calls are on hold.
  • Spy on calls can talk to the telephone line only.
  • Bulk dialers can call the destination before the agent.
  • The list of special ring tones for numbers can be changed.
  • Calls between customers can be excluded from concurrent call limits.
  • Multiple rtpengine servers, with failure detection and load balancing.
  • Telephone line registrations can be limited to specific user agents.

Web interface and administration

  • Two-factor authentication using TOTP.
  • Every list page has a filter box.
  • Role permissions match the menus, so each menu can be allowed or denied individually.
  • Bulk changes to inbound groups.
  • Alerts when peers re-register.
  • Email alerts for account changes can be enabled per account.
  • Alerts for queue calls that exit unanswered include the internal caller name.
  • Telephone lines and users locked after failed registrations or logins can be automatically unlocked after a period of time.
  • User logins are recorded in the audit log.
  • Call recording and voicemail can be temporarily disabled.
  • Active calls can be filtered by Asterisk machine.
  • The list invoices page loads faster, and can search by invoice number.

Billing and payments

  • Concurrent call reporting, including the maximum concurrent calls per day for resellers and customers.
  • Fees are processed in parallel, so billing runs complete much faster.
  • Low balance emails can be sent to customers from the customers report.
  • Number classes can be exported from rate plans.

APIs

  • The active calls table can be queried with filters.
  • Recordings can be requested by SIP Call-ID.

Provisioning

  • Provisioning templates can be inherited by sub-customers.
  • Telephone lines have reboot and update configuration buttons on their own pages.

System management

  • Asterisk 20 and 22 support.
  • Kamailio 5.8 and 6.0 support.
  • Ubuntu 24.04, Debian 11, and Rocky Linux 9 and 10 support.
  • The Enswitch source code is distributed using git.
  • The versions of packages built by the installer can be overridden in a configuration file.
  • Programs run from crontab can be given an IP address, and exit if it is not active on the machine, for high availability failover.
  • Queries to the active table can use a separate database handler.
  • Asterisk 13 is no longer supported.
