Some numbers are easier to remember than others; for example 1-800-555-1111 is easier to remember than 1-800-555-5628. Naturally, easy to remember numbers are more expensive, and number classes provide a mechanism to do this. When an Enswitch system is installed, a default class of "Normal" is created, which most numbers will belong to. The system owner can then create new classes such as "Bronze", "Silver", and "Gold" for easy to remember numbers. The system owner and resellers can set signup and monthly prices for each class. If a reseller does not set a price for a class, it is taken to be the same as their parent, and the reseller makes no profit or loss on numbers in this class.
Classes can also be used to reserve numbers for a customer without them having to purchase the numbers immediately.
To add a new number class
- Log in to the Enswitch web interface.
- Go to System » Number classes.
- Click the "New" button.
- Enter the following:
- A name for the class.
- Optionally a description.
- If numbers in this class are to be reserved for a customer, choose the customer.
- Choose a rank to set the order classes are displayed in when customers choose a number. Classes with the same rank are shown in alphabetical order.
- Whether to put numbers that customers have ported from other providers into this class. Enabling this feature for this class disables it for all other number classes. To allow customers to port numbers in, you must also enable in an inbound group and the features for any applicable rate plans.
- Click the "Save" button.
Once the class has been created, numbers can be set to use it.
